Sakayan
We call this 'Sakayan', commonly used by fishermen in fishing. It will run through padding.
Sakayan and pump boats are also use in other events such as the parade during the birth of Saint John the Baptist in June 24.
Fishing is the primary source of livelihood in Doong as well as the whole island of Bantayan.
The photo is taken at Pasil, Lipayran.
A piece of rock located at the seashore of Looc (part of Doong) during low-tide.
The travelers from Hagnaya (part of Cebu), riding in what we so called 'bote' to the seashore of Doong.
Bakhaw
Doong is also famous by its mangrove (bakhaw) abundance. This picture is lacated in looc (north-west part of the island).
"When I was in high school, we helped planting some of this in the north part of the island (beside Kanlawryo).  It's like once in a lifetime experienced together with my classmates and friends."
This is the famous Kanlawryo.  Is is an island developed in a island by one of the priest who once destined in the island for the enjoyment of the people in Doong and others.
This is where the people of Doong and Lipayran grow there 'Guso' plants (a variety of seaweed that grow in vines) and one of there main sources if income.
"Most of the people in Doong as well as its neighboring islands have 'Guso Plantation'.  But you cant guarantee that you will gain profit once this is your business because it has a major flaw in its production co'z for example is there's typhoon, this will easily washed out by strong current."

Kanlawryo
The best place to spend your summer vacation. You can visit here for free but be sure to ask permission to the caretaker.

Matabawong Island
A very small island located at the north part of the island. There's no one lived in here and this usually serves as the meantime shelter of the fishermen who got tired from walking.

Doong can only be reach by pump boat, either from Hagnaya, San Remigio directly or from Bantayan mainland. It is a 2-hour trip from San Remigio but only a 45-minutes trip from Bantayan island.

Oldest house we found in Doong
When we are in elementary, we even experienced playing in the lower part of this house, together with my cousins and friends. Until now, it's still existing, but the people prohibit children to play or even go near to this house due to the danger it may cause.

Palawod Festival
The word 'Palawod' means to go further out to the sea, (magpalaot in Tagalog). The festival takes place in Bantayan, the largest of the three towns and center of trade, arts and culture. The date coincides with the feast of the tow's patron saints, Peter and Paul, Christ's foremost fishermen of men.
